Buenos Aires, March 11, 2026 - The Tax Collection and Customs Control Agency (ARCA) has filed a complaint against the leadership of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), accusing it of misappropriating public funds. The agency alleges that the AFA, acting as a withholding agent, failed to deposit the corresponding amounts of national taxes and social security contributions on time and within the legal deadlines. The irregularities under investigation cover the period from March 2024 to September 2025 and involve withholdings related to Value Added Tax (VAT), Income Tax, and contributions to the pension system. The total amount under investigation exceeds 19.3 billion pesos. In response to the lawyer's statements, which suggested a political resolution to the case, the Secretary of the Presidency, Karina Milei, stated that there is nothing to negotiate with her and that the case must be resolved exclusively in the judicial sphere. This episode has once again placed the leadership of Argentine football under intense judicial and political pressure.
